What should a mother do when her new born daughter comes home with her ears pierced?

What should a mother do when her new born daughter comes home with her ears pierced. Her father who is her legal gardian, got her ears pierced by a proffesional, and did not have the mothers consent. It is not causing a medical issue.

If the father is the legal gaurdian, why does he need the mother’s consent ?

If its not causing a medical problem, there should be no problem. Just be sure to clean the area, whenever you bathe her, and be gentle so as not to pull on the ears. This might let dirt or germs inside the holes and any redness around the earrings might be infection.

When the ears are pierced at an early age, the baby gets used to them being there, and if it doesn’t hurt her, she won’t pull on her ears.

Just a note, though: some kids are more prone to ear infections than others…if your baby starts pulling on her ears (and does it a lot) it may not be the earrings that are to blame. A doctor would know what to look for !!
